DEC+ Terms of Service

1. Beta Test
DEC+ is currently a beta product, undergoing active development, testing, and updating as we quickly learn more about how customers use it. As such, please be aware that the product will frequently change, features will quickly be added and deleted, and we may make un-announced changes to the URL path at which it can be accessed. PLEASE notify us by emailing info@solanum-service.com if you have feedback on any of the changes we do make, or suggestions on any changes we should make.

2. Service Levels, Rights to Usage
We make no warranties that the product will remain available for any length of time. We may cease to stop providing the tool at any time without notice.

3. Warranties
We hereby expressly disclaim the fitness of DEC+ for any purpose. Our hope is that by your testing it, you will discover whether it's fit for any of your purposes, and that you will then let us know that.

4. Privacy, Use of Data, Retention of Data
When you submit an audio recording by using the "Record" button in the interface, a 6-second clip of your device's microphone data is sent to our analysis computer, which is in Amazon's cloud data center near Columbus, OH. The data is analyzed by that computer for the purposes of making inferences about any diesel engines the data may represent. After this analysis is made, the data is permanently lost. We do not currently retain the data for any purpose. Nonetheless, given the intended use of this product for a non-sensitive purpose, we take no deliberate effort to protect the data against leakage or other malicious use- and therefore explicitly disclaim any obligation on our part to secure the data against malicious access.

5. Geographical Provisions
DEC+ is intended for use by parties domiciled in and operating in the USA. If you are domiciled or operating elsewhere, we kindly ask you not to use DEC+ or our webpage, until after you've called us by telephone so we can figure out how to proceed without creating any compliance messes for either of us.

6. Cookies, Local Storage
Neither the DEC+ app nor the landing page from which this document is served, use any marketing, retargeting, or attribution cookies. The app does use some local storage in order to make the tool work- for example, it remembers whether you've already granted microphone permission, so that it won't have to ask you for permission every single time you press 'record'. If you install the Progressive Web App ("PWA") version of DEC+, some files used to support the PWA are stored on your device, so the device can remember what it's supposed to do when you tap the app icon.
